- Crude extracts aren't made using only pure salvinorin-A but an extraction product that also contains oils, tars and waxes.
- Standardized extracts, because they contain none of these contaminants, are healthier and cleaner.
- Crude extracts are manufactured by applying a solvent to the leaves. Often, toxic solvent residue may remain on the finished product.
- Crude extracts are notoriously inconsistent. Quality varies not only from vendor to vendor but from batch to batch. Crude extracts sold as "5x" may be closer to 4x, 3x or even 2x in actual strength.
- Standardized extracts are standardized to 12.5mg/g salvinorin-A for 5x, 25mg/g for 10x and 37,5mg for 15x, so you're guaranteed to receive a consistently high level of quality.
